margao: With nearly two thousand crores budget allocation, the Power Department has prioritised underground cabling with 11 kVA and 33kV lines and has laid emphasis on basic infrastructure.
“My budget for development and different budget heads is nearly Rs 2,000 crores,” said Power Minister Nilesh Cabral.
“We are close to being a 100% electrified State. Of the 6.72 lakh houses, only few have not got power as they are in remote areas where grid line has not reached. For that Goa Energy Development Authority (GEDA) has decided to work out a formula of Solar Power and store it in battery for electrification of the houses. This Chief Minister is working on actual 100% electrification of Goan houses” he added.
Speaking on the revenue recovery Cabral said, “There are 2 kinds of arrears in electricity, government and private household arrears. The government arrears have come down to Rs 65 crores and I have assured to bring 95% recovery by March 31,” said Cabral while adding that for private arrears, RRC cases have been filed and the respective mamlatdars would send the notices.
“My plan of work will go on which includes sealing, disconnections and others,” Cabral added.
He also said that he will give out the final figure of recovery in April.
