PORVORIM
Aldona MLA Dayanand Narvekar on Monday stated that if Jeetendra Deshprabhu is given Congress ticket to contest from Porvorim constituency, then neither he nor the Porvorim Block Congress committee will support his candidature.
Addressing a press conference at Porvorim, Narvekar said the Congress party has a right to stake claim on Porvorim constituency and under no circumstances the constituency should be allotted to NCP.
“Porvorim Block Congress Committee has submitted the names of Dr Chodankar, ZP member Gupesh Naik and Socorro Panch Pratima Narvekar to the screening committee,” he said.
“The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee will have to choose the candidate from these candidates in consultation with the Porvorim Block Congress committee,” he added.
Narvekar said during his tenure as MLA, he got sanctioned Rs 185 crore for the development of Porvorim and Aldona constituencies.
“Out of Rs 185 crore, an amount of Rs 115 crore alone has been sanctioned for Porvorim constituency comprising Penha-de-Franca, Salvador-do-Mundo and Socorro villages,” he said.
“The major amount of Rs 28 crore has been sanctioned for 11 KVA underground cabling from Tivim to Porvorim sub-station and also for underground cabling of high tension line,” Narvekar said.
“Hence, the Congress party has a right to stake its claim on Porvorim constituency and under no circumstances the constituency should be allotted to NCP,” demanded Narvekar.
