New cases fall to below 100

PANJIM: Goa recorded less than 100 Covid positive cases for the first time in nearly four months, when 99 new cases were reported on Monday.

The last time Goa had recorded less than 100 cases was on March 22, 2021 when 85 cases were reported. From then on there was a steep rise in cases, which had started slowing down from June onwards but had not dipped below 100, having remained between 100 and 250 over the last few weeks.

Monday was also the third time in seven days that zero deaths were reported in a single day. It may be recalled that last Monday, July 12 marked the first time Goa had reported zero deaths in a single day in nearly four months. 

On Sunday Goa reported its lowest daily Covid positivity rate in four months at 2.64 per cent. Then on Monday, the daily covid positivity rate touched 3.02%. For perspective, a week ago the daily positivity rate was at 3.46 per cent.
