PANJIM: BJP’s St Andre MLA Vishnu Surya Wagh on Wednesday announced the formation of a Bahujan Mahamanch (mega front) within the next three months even as December 31 deadline to the government to nab those responsible for the December 18 attack on him ended on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference on January 1, he targeted party colleague Sanguem MLA Subhash Phaldessai and a section of BJP workers calling them ‘Lilliputians’ who, he alleged, were unnecessarily casting aspersions on him over his stand towards the party after the attack.
“I have resolved not to take any hasty steps and instead channelize my efforts in the right direction. In two to three months, I will set up Bahujan Mahamanch and bring together all the affected groups such as labour, SCs, STs and others to bring parivartan in society. This is my answer to the attack,” he said.
Taking a dig at MLA Phaldessai who said that Wagh should not publicly criticize the party and that if he was not happy, he should resign from the party; Wagh said he would not respond to such ‘childish comments’. The legislator also alleged that one BJP worker Ghanu, has been campaigning against him on Facebook.
“If I have to speak, I will speak to BJP Goa Unit President Vinay Tendulkar…He has a lot to learn in politics. I don’t want to make business out of politics and use it for personal gain just the way he has done. I don’t want to reply to childish comments,” he said pointing at Sanguem MLA Subhash Phaldesai.
He reiterated that he would not quit the party because he had done nothing wrong or offensive and instead fight for justice for himself and the common people by being in the government.
“I am not a small time politician and I don’t want to be like that. I am instead a statesman. I will always speak against injustice and will stand for the right,” he added.
Wagh further said that he would either visit Delhi or hand over a letter to party high command informing them about the incident. He is also expected to meet Goa Governor B V Wanchoo once the latter is back in Goa.
