7 Margao assault accused remanded
MARGAO: The seven accused arrested in connection with the September 27 assault incident between two groups behind the Margao Municipal Council building have been remanded to three-day police custody. On Saturday, the Margao police had registered two separate offences based on complaint filed by Shivraj Ransukh Acharya, residing of Shantinagar, Rawanfond, Navelim and Anwar Sayed, resident of Colmorod-Magao.
Gold from scooter stolen in Margao
MARGAO: One Sherin Fernandes resident of Salemodem, Cuncolim, has filed a complaint with Margao police that unknown person on September 28, broke open the tool box of her scooter which was parked in a parking lot at SGPDA market, Margao, and committed theft of her purse containing gold ornaments, ATM card and cash of Rs 500. Fernandes stated that she parked her scooter at the site at around 7.20 pm and headed to the market, only to find the tool box opened upon her return 20 minutes later. Her purse containing gold bangle, 2 rings, a pair of earrings, necklace, ATM card and cash of Rs 500 were stolen.An offence of theft under section 379 IPC has been registered by Margao police. PI Sudesh Naik informed that the complainant is yet to provide them with the worth of the gold ornaments.
Bike stolen from Colva beach
MARGAO: The Colva police have registered an offence under section 379 IPC against unknown person for theft of a Hero Honda Passion motorcycle (GA-08 L-6332), worth around Rs 52,000 parked at an open place near Colva beach on September 28. Complaint has been filed by Shabbir Sharif Mammang, that unknown person committed theft of the motorcycle belonging to his friend Kassim Sheik, resident of Manora–Raia on September 21, between 8.30 pm and 9 pm.
Interim relief to murder accused duo
MARGAO South Goa District and Session Court granted anticipatory bail to the two accused, Ajay Chari and Sanish Chari, who are wanted in a murder case. The Court has directed that Ajay and Sanish be released upon execution of bond of Rs 25,000 and a surety in like amount in the event of their arrest. They were directed not to influence witnesses or tamper with the evidence and report to the Cuncolim police station for a week. Izlante Vaz sister of deceased Carson Fernandes had lodged a complaint with the Cuncolim police that her brother was assaulted by the accused on April 28
Assault plaint at Mapusa
MAPUSA: A resident of Teliwado Voili, Chicalim, was injured after he was assaulted by a person at Kumarwado, Shelpem-Dhuler, Mapusa, on Sunday. According to Mapusa police, Sunil Shirsagar of Teliwado Voili, Chicalim, complained that the accused abused and assaulted him with a wooden stick, causing injuries and also threatened to kill him. Police is investigating the case.
Two held for transporting bulls
BICHOLIM: Bicholim police arrested two persons on charges of transporting two bulls at Madhlawada-Sal, Bicholim, on Sunday. According to Bicholim police, Digambar Raut of Madhlawada-Sal, complained that the accused, Jyotiba Shinde of Nandvade-Chandgad, Maharashtra, and Irshad Makandar of Chandgad, were caught red-handed while illegally transporting two bulls in a pick-up (MH-09-BC-2676) at Sal. Police arrested the accused under Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act and Section 192 of MV Act.
