No idea of CCP moving Campal ground project file: Joaquim

The tussle over handing over of Campal Football ground continues with Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao claiming that he has no idea of the Corporation of the City of Panjim (CCP) moving file to take over the project.
“They need to consult me before putting up any such proposal. Neither the corporation nor the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) have given any idea about it,” Alemao said.
He said that till date no such proposal is been placed before me by the corporation.
Alemao, who is also a chairman of Goa Football Association (GFA), said that SAG has also not approached him over any such letter from CCP.
The corporation in March, 2010 had written a letter to the Sports Authority of Goa ((SAG) asking to hand over he football ground for the development. But the SAG had said that they have not received any such proposal.
“If such proposal comes in near future, SAG will completely oppose to it as it is maintained well by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC),” SAG Director V M Prabhudessai had told Herald earlier.
Meanwhile, a senior CCP official has said that the role of the minister doesn’t come into picture as SAG is also an autonomous body.
“The corporation can take its independent decision. CCP has just written letter to hand over the ground. If SAG agrees then the proposal will be placed before Urban Development Ministry through Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA),” senior official said.
Alemao said that it’s not possible to take up the developmental work of the ground as GFA doesn’t have enough funds. “Even the corporation is going under same crisis,” he added.
The corporation is planning to opt for funds under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) for carrying out the developmental work of the football ground.
