SANGUEM: Residents of Sanguem had nothing special to cheer about except for the opening of wholesale and retail wine dealers as lockdown 3.0 proved least effective as most shops in the town area continued the business as usual since last many days.

Incidentally, with private buses in the remote villages of the taluka remaining off-the-road, the villagers who would otherwise visit the town post-March 22 lockdown had to remain indoors in the absence of public transport.
The movement of residents to the government offices was minimal as people could not travel to the town area, which houses most government offices due to no public transport.
Despite the announcement that shops will be shut by 6 pm and people should remain indoors by 7 pm, however, most shops in Sanguem remained open till 7 pm with people moving in the town even after 7 pm to some extent.
Some hotels in Sanguem also reopened with minimum offerings such as samosas, batatawadas, potato chips, tea and other eatables. People were however not allowed to sit in the hotel premises.
Meanwhile, Joe da Costa, a local restaurant owner in Sanguem urged the government to consider the opening of restaurants in State.
