PANJIM: Novex Communication Private Limited, a music company has filed a number of cases against prominent hotels, pubs, casinos, shacks for playing recorded music for violation of the norms of copyrights by not taking proper licences.
Goa being a party place the maximum amount of copyright infringement is witnessed here, the company officials have said. Novex Communications Private Limited is a copyright holder for Yash Raj Music, Zee Music, Eros entertainment and Shermaroo entertainment.
“We have been fighting against the copyright violation against a number of such party places in Goa. Novex which holds the rights for the music of all this music companies having maximum number of hit songs have been sending letter and communicating to various joints to take the Novex licence to play the music. However, the party places have failed to do so resulting in filing the cases,” Ketan Ranga, spokesperson of Noves Private Limited said.
According to him the company has been filing cases against the party establishments and joints regularly at the respective police stations but the complaint has not been addressed properly by the police and even by the District Superintendent.
Novex Communications has now moved the local courts of both the districts of Goa under 156 (3) CrPC directing Police to register FIR against the violators based on the complaint of the company officials.
