PANJIM: The Government of Goa may start its paramedical courses, as early as the first week of September, Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar announced Monday.
Speaking to Herald, Parsekar said that the process has already been initiated by Goa University and would start only once the MBBS academic year starts, by the first week of August.
“By the first week of September the paramedical courses will start. First let the MBBS course start and we will start the paramedical courses by the first week of September,” Parsekar said.
The government plans to start courses in five disciplines ~ Bachelor in Science in Optometry, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Radiography, and anaesthetic technicians’ course. These courses will be offered at Goa Medical College and affiliated to Goa University.
“The Goa University is already preparing the ground for the starting of the course,” Parsekar said. It still isn’t clear however, how many seats will be offered for each subject area.
