PANJIM: Chief Minister
Manohar Parrikar has rubbished allegations by the Opposition that Union
Minister Nitin Gadkari bribed Independent candidates to join the coalition
government.
“Those people who have
practiced (in the past of bribing legislators to join their party) are making
such baseless allegations… When your don yellow sunglasses, the whole world
looks yellow. This is the same situation with them (the opposition party),” he
said reacting to the allegation leveled by the Opposition in view of two
regional parties and Independents joining BJP to form a coalition government.

The CM also denied
instigating any legislator to shift their loyalty to BJP. Commenting about Congress’
Vishwajit Rane’s reported meeting with him, Parrikar stated, “Nobody can tell
me whom should I meet. I don’t go to meet anyone. If anyone has contacted me,
it doesn’t mean that I have instigated him.”
He went on to add that
legislators will have to approach the CM for any developmental works, without
which, government would not understand what is needed for each
constituency.
Asked to comment on the
infighting within the Congress, Parrikar declined making any statement. “It is
their internal matter,” was his only comment to the media query.
Meanwhile, other senior BJP
leaders also denied any close-door meetings with some Congress MLAs with one of
them saying, “We have some standard. I would rather sit at home then go to them
for support. I don’t know what is in the mind of the opposition.”
