“The impact of politics and political leaders is declining. It has lost space and shine due to Bollywood icons and business tycoons. Hundred years ago, politicians were highly respected but now it is different,” he said speaking during a session on ‘The New Young Politicians: changing the world view and how nations can collaborate in a new world over’ at Women Economic Forum on Saturday.
He nonetheless acknowledged that the entry of youngsters into politics has become imperative and fashionable in the present scenario, as they are also accepted by the veterans in this field. “Ten years ago, youngsters were not given space to enter politics… It began with Congress to see that change happen,” he stated.
Pilot, who is also the sitting Rajasthan Congress chief went on to add that the younger generation want to see the country’s growth and enhancing the economic condition on priority is top of their agenda.
“Look at the municipality, village panchayats, block level politics or zilla parishad. There are more young people ready to take up challenges. We can call that real political revolution. However, they don’t have a platform and neither is it widely reported in the media,” he added pointing out that young faces are now seen across all parties.
He suggested that one should control their inner voice on social media to avoid getting into controversy and also mentioned that the world is looking at India to provide leadership globally.
“India can provide leadership not only in South Asia, but globally. Elections will come and go, parties will win and lose and people will get elected and go… the entire country is far more than one party or one man. Politics which has diminished as compared to the past, can be brought back to its glory,” he elucidated.
