Aam Aurat Admi Against Gambling has claimed besides river Mandovi,plans were now afoot to allow a casino adjoining river Zuari at Quelossim-Cortalim by Utopia Properties that has already run an advertising campaign on its website.
Condemning the Government’s recent decision allowing off-shore casinos at alternate locations in river Mandovi, AAAAG ridiculed, “The Government is seeking legitimacy from the court to anchor these casinos in the river so as to pave way for many more in rivers of State.”
It chided further, “This is the same Government that earlier claimed to be with the people’s sentiments and has now openly stated interests of casino owners too have to be protected.”
AAAAG has once again strongly criticised the casino policy of the Government stating the meaning of the word “offshore” is not defined. It has demanded with the Government to adhere to the definition of offshore as in the maritime law and shift all the casinos into the sea outside State limits.
It has called upon people, especially those along river banks, to brace up for a fight against the casinos insidiously pervading right into the villages. AAAAG has promised to launch a campaign ‘Push the casinos out before they push you out’.
