MARGAO: After Herald exposed the return of the Chor Bazaar along Margao’s station road, the Margao police cracked a whip against the illegal activity in the wee hours of Sunday.
A police team headed by PI Sudesh Naik descended at the Station road only to find a group of people dealing in cell phones. “We have nabbed around 4-5 persons who were found along the station road dealing in cell phones. They are being interrogated to find out the source of the second hand cell phones,” PI Sudesh said.
When the police team descended at the station road, they found some vendors arranging second hand mixers and besides garments for sale. “We have sent a right message that the police will not tolerate any revival of chor bazaar, which I had stopped during my previous stint in Margao,” he said.
Herald had on Wednesday exposed the comeback of the Chor Bazaar along the station road, with local residents demanding a crack down on the illegal activity.
The notorious chor bazaar had turned out a weekly Sunday bazaar offering marketing avenues for petty thieves and miscreants to dispose of stolen property.
