PANJIM, JULY 20
Crime Branch sleuths today questioned Conrad Torroado in connection with the death of his older sister Nadia Torrado. The recently passed out MBA gold medalist was admitted to Institute of Psychiatric and Human Behaviour (IPHB) at Bambolim after he fell into depression, last week.
Inspector Sunita Sawant confirmed that a team was sent to IPHB to question Conrad refuting rumours of his arrest. “We have sent a team to question Conrad. We are also in touch with the IPHB doctors on his mental health status,” she told Herald.
He was reportedly quizzed on Nadia’s behaviour before she apparently consumed rat poison on May 14; main accused former tourism minister Mickky’s Pacheco’s visits to their place in Fatorda; as well as Pacheco’s association with the Torrado family, Nadia’s belongings, etc.
Conrad had to be shifted to IPHB when he showed suicidal tendencies, soon after his mother Sonia was arrested for culpable homicide and destruction of evidence in the Nadia death probe. She was however bailed-out in an order by the Margao Sessions Court today.
Meanwhile, the higher-ups held a meeting with the investigating agency in the police headquarters, which lasted for over an hour. What transpired in the meeting is yet to be known.
Nadia died on May 29 after she allegedly consumed poison and had to be taken to Margao Hospicio hospital from where she was taken to Thane Jupiter hospital in a chartered ambulance and finally to Chennai Apollo hospital for liver transplant.
