PANJIM: Panjim police are investigating the death of a young woman, whose family claims that she has been murdered by her live-in partner at Caranzalem.
The deceased was found hanging in her rented apartment by her partner, who informed the police about the suicide, police said. However, her parents have raised strong suspicion demanding that the man be booked for murder.
The incident occurred in the early hours of December 5 after the woman returned from a late night party in a casino. The victim, a former employee with a starred hotel, was recently employed with an offshore casino. Her partner was her colleague at her former place of work.
“She attended a late night party on December 4 without the man who stayed back at his staff room after work. She came to the hotel at around 4.30 am on December 5 and took him out. They went to their rented flat at Caranzalem thereafter,” an officer told Herald.
The police, which prima facie states it is a case of suicide, quoted the man’s statement that he went to the rest room on reaching home. “When he came out of the rest room, he saw the woman hanging. He called the police thereafter,” the officer said.
While the post mortem has ascertained suicide, the family of the deceased – who originally hail from Sanquelim – is not ready to accept this theory demanding a case of murder be filed against the man. The police officer told Herald that they are interrogating the man based on the allegations by the family. The case, however, has been registered as suicide.
