Briefing press after the council meeting, PMC Chairperson Radhika Naik said it was decided to renovate the garden in front of PMC.
“It was also decided to make available more parking spaces in the city area to accommodate the increasing flow of traffic in Ponda city and for that a parking project is planned at existing open space behind Shastri Building near police station,” informed Naik.
Naik said the council has decided to construct underground road from St Anne Church to St Mary High School in Ponda to facilitate the funeral procession.
“Many times, it was required to stop the vehicles along the road during funeral procession. The underground road will also help the students of St Mary High School to proceed to the school,” she informed.
“This road will be constructed by using special technology and it will look just a speed breaker,” Naik added.
It was also decided to collect revenue from commercial establishments by conducting survey as many owners have let their premises on rent to commercial establishments like banks, ATM, mobile towers, etc, and are trying to evade fees, tax required to be deposited with PMC.
