The State government has notified District Collectors and District Superintendents of Police of North and South Goa Districts as nodal officers on civil and police side.
The Union Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs has launched this software module in August and it is now available on the MOIA’s website.
According to the ministry, many a times, family members of the deceased emigrant in any of the above ECR countries approach the authorities in the State Government to facilitate the transportation of the mortal remains of their beloved ones as quickly as possible.
And this software module developed will enable a family member of the deceased to apply online for transportation of mortal remains of the deceased emigrant in any of the above mentioned ECR countries, and further tracking the status online till the mortal remains are brought back.
The Union government has directed that the officials concerned be sensitized for enabling the public, who may approach them for helping out on the issue of bringing back the mortal remains, for making entries in the software module. On completion of making such entries, the Indian Missions located in the destination country, from where the mortal remains are required to be brought back, will start processing those cases for bringing back the mortal remains expeditiously. The applicants can also track the status and make additional entries, if required, in the system.
