VASCO: The crucial meeting called by the taluka administration to give a presentation to the landlords affected by the road over bridge (RoB) at level crossing 25 connecting Cansaulim and Arossim remained inconclusive on Friday. A joint inspection to physically measure the land affected with bridge alignment has now been fixed on March 27.
According to the information, the Deputy Collector Mormugao (additional charge) Arvind Khutkar who chaired the meeting attended by almost all the affected landlords, made a detailed presentation to explain about the RoB project alignment so as to clear all the doubts of landlords who have been objecting to the project alignment.
Khutkar assured them that the under proposed RoB project plan prepared by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), no houses would be touched and only few compound walls would be demolished which again would be built by GSIDC.
He informed that the RoB plan has been approved by railways and part of the funds has already been released by the Central government and as the project was approved in the year 2014, now the central government has been seeking progress report for the project and if the project is delayed further, then, there are high possibilities that the funds would be diverted for other project.
Consequently, he said, villagers would not be getting this RoB facility which is very much needed for Cansaulim-Arossim and Cuelim (CAC) and other neighboring villages.
The landlords present at the meeting questioned the deputy collector as to how the RoB project could be approved without consulting the villagers or taking them into confidence. They also brought to the notice of Khutkar that as in the past, even this time landlords were given short notice for the meeting which, they said, was unfair as they were unable to consult experts about the proposed RoB alignment.
After lengthy discussion, it finally was opined that as there are doubts in the minds of landlords, a joint site inspection with all the authorities concerned should be held so that the landlords can come to know who is losing how much land in the new RoB alignment. As everyone agreed for the same, Khutkar fixed the joint inspection on March 27.
