VASCO: Reiterating her stand against double tracking of South Western Railway line passing through Cansualim-Arrosim-Cuelim villages, Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha on Friday said that whether the BJP comes back to power or not, she would continue to oppose the proposed double tracking, as the same would pose threat to the heritage structures from Cansualim to Velsao in Cortalim constituency.
“Definitely I am not for doubling of railway line passing through CAC as well as Velsao village. I have objected to the same in past very forcefully and will continue to object even in future. It is only because the heritage houses that are located close to railway tracks will be destroyed,” she said.“For this purpose, I along with the South Western railway officials had a site inspection where they demarcated the land. During demarcation it was seen by the railway officials as well that the landmarks were coming up well within the compounds as well as on the doorsteps and yet the railway authorities say that no building or houses will be touched. They may not touch the house but the vibrations that will be caused will definitely bring the house down on its own and we will not allow it,” she promised.
