PANJIM: The Muslim community in Panjim will celebrates Id-Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed by organizing a procession on Monday, at 2.30 pm starting from Jama Masjid and passing though Dr D V Road, Dr. Gama Pinto road, circle near Taj Vivanta, Caculo Island, 18th June Road, Panjim Church and back to the masjid. After asar prayers, there will be reading of Quran followed by Fateha, says a press note.
Meanwhile, Governor Mridula Sinha and Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar have extended their greetings to the Muslim brethren in particular on the occasion of Id-Milad-un-Nabi.
In her message, the governor said, “The unity of God and brotherhood of men are the two basic tenets of Islam. In our country, where all the living faiths of the world are represented, they have their pride of place. People of India, belonging to different faiths, have learnt to live in tolerance, mutual understanding and mutual respect for one another. Today, the efforts of the nation are directed towards national unity and integration, and we must strengthen these efforts by choosing the basic values taught by all religions as an essential force to promote good will and understanding.”
In his message, the chief minister said, “Id-Milad-un-Nabi is being celebrated by the Muslim brethren with joy and religious fervor across the world. Such occasions significantly contribute to promote the rich bonds of unity among the people of different faith. Id-Milad-un-Nabi reminds us of the Prophet’s teachings promote goodwill and communal amity.”
“Let us on this auspicious occasion, renew our faith and work in unison to strengthen the belief and faith and spread the message and teachings of Prophet Mohammad to promote peace, tranquility and communal harmony in the society,” the chief minister added.
