Responding to media queries regarding the long-pending demand for risk allowance for fire personnel, Nitin Raiker, Director of Fire and Emergency Services (FES), stated that the proposal has already been submitted to the government and is currently under process.
Raiker said the government has assured the department that the risk allowance will be granted. “We have put a proposal before the government for risk allowance, and the government has given us assurance that it will be done. The file is currently in movement, and whatever queries are there, we are clearing them,” he said.
Expressing optimism, he added that the approval is likely to come through soon. He emphasised that the government recognises the demanding and hazardous nature of fire service duties.

“The government supports us; they know how hard-working our personnel are, and considering all these factors, they have decided to grant the risk allowance,” Raiker said.
The move, once finalised, is expected to benefit fire personnel who routinely face life-threatening situations while carrying out rescue and firefighting operations across the state.
