MARGAO: Locals from Cavelossim village held a protest on Sunday complaining about alleged destruction of sand dune and vegetation in a property near the bridge and also raised opposition to the proposed construction of a road nearby.

Locals pointed out that the area in question where the sand dune had been cut has already been brought to the attention of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
They also spoke about a road that is proposed to be constructed under the guise of it benefiting local fishermen. Locals claimed that this road was being built to help commercial interests in the locality. They added that they had asked for a road in another area instead.
