Punjab Teacher Alleges Molestation by Colleague in School Lab

A science teacher in Punjab’s Bathinda has filed a police complaint accusing a colleague of molestation and harassment inside a school laboratory. The incident reportedly took place during a routine inspection of the science lab.

According to the complaint, the woman joined the school in June 2023 and was part of a committee overseeing repair work in the laboratory. She alleged that a senior mathematics teacher, also a committee member, asked her to accompany him to identify faulty shelves that required fixing.

While inside the lab, the accused allegedly made inappropriate remarks, questioning why she had not hosted a “party” for the repair work. When she responded that she had already distributed sweets among staff, he allegedly put his arm around her neck and forcibly kissed her.

The woman stated that despite her resistance, the accused repeated the act and made further remarks. He allegedly covered her mouth to prevent her from shouting and held her shoulders during the assault. She managed to escape and fled the lab.

The accused reportedly threatened her with serious consequences if she disclosed the incident. The teacher later informed female colleagues and her family before approaching the police. Authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
