PANJIM: Two men, accused of raping their niece for over 10 years, on Thursday moved the Children‘s Court seeking anticipatory bail. The matter is likely to come up for hearing next week while the investigation team has decided to oppose the anticipatory bail and seek their custodial interrogation.
Porvorim police on Wednesday had booked the two brothers under Sections 376 (rape) and 354 (outraging modesty) of IPC and Section 8(2) of Goa Children’s Act after the victim claimed they had raped her since she was 13 years of age.
The girl also alleged that the police had initially refused to register her complaint until NGO Hope Foundation intervened in the matter demanding that a First Information Report (FIR) be registered against the alleged offenders.
Meanwhile, the police are likely to summon witnesses to record their statements.
