MARGAO: Shadow Council for Margao (SCM) convener Savio Coutinho on Monday condemned the harassment meted out to their candidate Adv Seoula Vas who is contesting from Ward 3.

He alleged that the returning officer, who is a government servant, is harassing the candidate at the behest of the government.
He said the Returning Officer has issued a show cause notice to Adv Seoula seeking why action should not be taken against her for posting a video clip on Facebook while in the guidelines issued to the candidates there was no mention absolutely about messages posted on social media.
“We have only shown the various scams that we had highlighted in the last Council and it appears that those who were involved in those scams are getting jittery and now pressurising the returning officer,” Savio claimed and added that by such tactics they propose to keep the candidate busy in court matters and away from canvassing in the ward.
In her reply Adv Seoula said there is no violation of any provision of the Model Code of Conduct and added that the provision/ rule that has been violated is not mentioned in the show cause notice.
