Sada waste plant wall collapses, yet again

VASCO: The Compound wall of garbage treatment plant of Mormugao Municipal Council at Headland Sada, Vasco, collapsed. This time around 15 meters of the wall on front side of the plant came crashing down after heavy rains over the last couple of days. However, as the damaged portion is on the road side, there is no threat of garbage sliding down the hill.

According to information, the collapsed compound wall was noticed by a few locals on Tuesday morning who later informed the people working at the plant. After receiving information, the MMC officials swung into action and commenced the work of clearing the debris.
“We will take on the said work on a war footing and will try to complete the same soon,” said MMC Chairperson Lavina D’Souza.
This is the third time that the compound wall of the garbage plant which is located right at the edge of hillock at Sada has collapsed. On the last two occasions there were reports of garbage sliding down the hill.
