SANGUEM: Of the father and son duo, arrested for allegedly murdering Shantaram Shirodkar, the latter was remanded in Sanguem police custody for 14 days by the Quepem Judicial Magistrate First Class on Friday.
While Jay Ravidas Shirodkar (39) has been remanded, his father Ravidas Shirodkar (63) could not be produced before the court as he has been admitted to the Government Primary Health Centre, Sanguem, reportedly with high blood pressure.
A charred body found at a cashew plantation in Sanguem is suspected to be that of Shantaram’s, who was reported missing since December 23.
Sources informed that Ravidas was hospitalised soon after his arrest by the Sanguem police and the doctors said his shifting could prove risky. Hence, he was not brought to the court of obtaining his custody.
Sanguem police said that Ravidas Shirodkar would be produced before the court for remand, immediately after his discharge from the hospital.
