MARGAO: At the marathon gram sabha meeting that ended late afternoon, the Sao Jose De Areal Village Panchayat presented the budget for 2022-23.

Discussions on the budget dominated the gram sabha. However, the demand for filing an FIR against the previous panchayat body over alleged financial irregularities over contentious development works was rejected due to lack of evidence available.
Meanwhile, it was resolved that a decision on the matter of choosing the site for the Material Recovery Facility would be taken up by the Village Development Committee due to the lack of consensus at the meeting.
Objections were also raised to garbage brought by the Margao Municipal Council to their village.
A demand was made to write to the Goa State Pollution Control Board and National Green Tribunal for the pollution allegedly caused by the Goa Carbon factory. There was a call to take action on an issue regarding alleged illegal plots.
