NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has ordered issue of notice, returnable on October 26, on Panjim Police on booking of Chaitali Naik and Santosh Naik of Mapusa under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on seizure of MDMA, commonly known as Ecstasy, in commercial quantity.
The Bench of Justices Deepak Gupta and Surya Kant also extended the interim protection granted to them till further orders.
The Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court had asked them on August 8 to surrender before the Additional Sessions Judge of Mapusa within four weeks. On September 5, the Bench extended by five weeks time to surrender to await orders from the Supreme Court that has been approached by them.
