Schools to get aid for promotion of road safety

PANJIM: To promote awareness on road safety and civic responsibilities among students, the State government has introduced a grant-in-aid scheme called “Marg Suraksha” for all the recognised schools and colleges by the directorate of Education.
Under the scheme, schools and colleges will have to establish civic clubs to promote harmony and the spirit of brotherhood, especially among students transcending religious, linguistic and regional or sectional diversities.
The clubs will have to prepare, print and circulate literature/resource material on Citizenship and Civic responsibilities amongst students as well as the citizens.
It will also have to conduct ‘Training of Trainers’ (ToT) for preparing teams of trainers, who will impart training to the members of the civic clubs.
Furthermore, the clubs will have to organize seminars, conferences, debates, and meetings etc on Citizenship & Civic Sense.
The government has also specified that only those schools, which do not take financial benefits under any other schemes, would be entitled.
