Scooterist killed in Colvale mishap

A 45-year-old scooterist from Pirna died, after he was knocked down by a tipper truck at Colvale on Wednesday at about 8 pm.
According to Mapusa Police, the accident occurred when Govind Satardekar was proceeding towards Pirna on his scooter (GA-03-M-1274). While Satardekar was negotiating a turn at Colvale, the tipper truck (GA-03-T-6690) dashed the scooter from the rear.
Police further informed that Satardekar was crushed under the wheels of the truck. Satardekar was rushed to Asilo Hospital at Mapusa, but the doctors at the hospital declared him brought-in dead. The body was later sent to GMC Hospital at Bambolim for postmortem.
The truck driver and cleaner fled from the site of accident. Mapusa Police PI T Dhawaskar is investigating the case.
