The organisation has warned that they will rise to save the land of their ancestors and to save their diverse and noble cultures. Narendra Sawaikar says that the plan is in the primary stage and has reassured the people that they will take everyone into consideration before doubling the tracks.
In their Memorandum to the Railway minister, the SGE says, “We are already the victims of double tracks of the South Western Railways and Konkan Railways. Many of our farmers have been prevented from carting agricultural machinery to the paddy fields and our cattle have lost access to century’s old grazing grounds. We oppose the taking over of our land as it is being done to please the corporate bodies and we will not let this happen.”
