MAPUSA: Marna Siolim panchayat has lodged a complaint with the Anjuna Police against some gram sabha members for “mischievously” cancelling the signatures from gram sabha proceeding register.
In a complaint to Anjuna Police, sarpanch Monali Pednekar stated that during the gram sabha held on February 28, while the secretary was reading some proposals, some members including Udesh Pangam, a resident of Vaddy and Johnny Pereira from Ingroz Wado and others objected to signing on the proceeding register claiming that there should be two separate books one for taking the signatures of gram sabha members attending the meeting and the other to record resolutions. However, the secretary continued to read out the proposal and held a fruitful discussion. Later after the meeting, when secretary opened the register, it was found that pages having signatures of all those who attended the gram sabha were cancelled.
The sarpanch further stated that such mischief of destroying the evidence of the gram sabha proceeding register amounts to destroying of government records, not allowing a government servant to record the day’s proceedings – minutes of the gram sabha.
The Sarpanch requested the Anjuna police to register an offence, investigate the incident and initiate action on priority.
