MARGAO: The South Goa Police have collected Rs 67, 67, 041 by way of fine from the public for violating the lockdown and have booked 8,811 persons for moving without a mask and 4,785 persons for spitting in public places, since the nationwide lockdown came in force and till May 16.

The Vasco Police collected the highest amount of Rs 10,01,001 as fine and were followed by Verna Police who collected Rs 8,37,030. The least amount of Rs 1,12,950 was collected by Vasco Railway Police Station.
Of the 793 persons arrested in South Goa, the highest were arrested by Ponda and Vasco Police who arrested 128 and 127 respectively while Collem that arrested only seven persons ranked the lowest followed by Sanguem Police who arrested 21.
While Margao Town Police booked 50 persons for violating the order issued by Collector regarding lockdown, Maina Curtorim Police booked 45 persons and the least cases were booked by Collem Police, who booked only five cases followed by Mormugao Police, who booked only eight cases.
Vasco Police Station ranked topmost in vehicle seizures as they seized 56 vehicles followed by Margao Town where 35 were seized. Collem Police having seized only three vehicles ranked the lowest followed by Mormugao where five were seized.
Ponda Police booked the highest number of cases under the Motor Vehicles Act totaling to 8,284 cases followed by Fatorda Police 6,844 cases and the least number of such cases were booked by Vasco Railway totaling to 881 cases.
Fatorda Police booked 1,418 persons for moving about without a mask followed by Vasco where 1,232 persons were booked and Verna Police booked 1,200 persons. Konkan Railway Station booked 115 such cases followed by Sanguem where 126 persons were booked for not wearing mask.
Mormugao Police ranked highest in booking persons for spitting in public places as they booked 1,154 persons followed by Verna where 1,041 persons were arrested and Dabolim Airport booked 14 persons.
