Deputy Collector of Dharbandora Agnelo Fernandes said that the special drive was undertaken as Supreme Court has directed to make electoral infrastructure more accessible to voters with disabilities. “Their full participation can be achieved by enrolling them in the voters list and removing numerous hurdles which they are facing,” stated Fernandes.
He said that 42 persons with different disabilities have been enrolled from the Sanvordem constituency. However, he said, that more people who have not come forward due to their disability would be identified and enrolled.
He also urged the permanent citizens to reach out to persons with disabilities and get them enrolled in the voters list to be a part of electoral process.
