PANJIM: The State government has spent close to Rs 25 lakh on protocol on visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2014.
The expenditure on his first visit to Goa on June 14, 2014 was calculated at Rs 4.13 lakh approximately towards his carcade of 39 vehicles.
He had addressed nearly 7000 BJP workers at a common party convention at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium. In the same year on October 13, the State spent Rs 71,242 on PM’s carcade of seven vehicles.
The information was tabled by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in the just-concluded monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly.
The data further reveals that in 2016, Rs 18,87,133 was spent for the PM’s carcade during the BRICS Summit, and lodging, boarding of BSF Airwing, meals for entourage dignitaries.
The details of the expenditure incurred, from October 14 to October 17, 2016, are as follow: Rs 9,62,849 for ‘vehicles used for cardade of PM and other cars used for BRICS Summit’, another Rs 2,42,716 towards ‘lodging, boarding of BSF Airwing, DIG Plot and Commandant Pilot & other expenditure.’
The total vehicles used during this period were 40.
On November 13, Rs 4,75,060 was spent on the PM’s carcade comprising 38 vehicles and his entourage and another Rs 2,06,508 was spent on tea, coffee, snacks, lunch for the PM’s entourage.
In the current year during his campaign for the Assembly elections in Goa in January, the expenditure came to Rs 1,18,785 wherein the bill for Rs 91,425 towards PM’s carcade of 14 vehicles is under process.
