PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday announced that the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation constituted under deputy speaker Anant Shet will not just train manpower for government organisations but even private industries will be able to source personnel from it.
Taking pride that Goa is the first state to have HRD Corporation, Parrikar said that the government has recently constituted the HRDC for providing skill training to youth. “These youth will not only be absorbed in government service but can also be employed in the private industrial sector,” he said.
The other members of the corporation are Sankhali BJP MLA Pramod Sawant, Shekhar Khadapkar and Antonio Pereira.
The chief minister was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a three-day long third Asia Paci?c Federation of Human Resource Management Regional Conference and 32nd NIPM annual national conference, in Panjim. The conference under the theme “Challenges, Opportunities-the HR way ahead,” is attended by over 650 delegates from across the world.
Parrikar said that the skilled manpower is becoming scarce in the country as everyone wants to become a ‘babu’ (officer). “The skill is not transferred from father to son as the son considers it not dignified to continue with his father’s profession,” he commented.
Further, he stated that HR needs to focus on how to train, motivate and use its manpower. “HR is an important issue in the current scenario, where skills and managing people is very important,” he added.
The other members present on the occasion include industrialist Srinivas Dempo, NIPM national president R Mohan Das, APFHRM president Ernesto Espinosa, NIPM Goa chapter chairman R Krishna Gopal.
