Street lights to be replaced with LED bulbs

PORVORIM: Nearly 1.67 lakh street light fixtures will be replaced with LED bulbs in the next seven months, Power Minister, Milind Naik told the State Legislative Assembly on Thursday.

Naik said that the work of replacement of existing light fixtures with LED fixtures in Goa has been tendered and the same will be executed by August 20. 
The minister said that the tender has been awarded to Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), at an estimated cost of Rs 90 crore. “The maintenance of the LED fixtures will be also carried out by EESL,” he said. 
Naik was responding to a question raised by Goa Vikas Party MLA, Caetano (Caitu) Silva. The minister also said that wherever required while replacing the lights with LEDs, the damaged electricity poles would be either repaired or new ones would be installed.
