Supreme Court Orders Status Quo on Goa Tiger Reserve Proposal, Seeks CEC Report

The Supreme Court has directed the State of Goa to maintain status quo as of September 8, 2025, regarding the areas that the High Court had earlier ordered to be notified as a tiger reserve.

A bench of the apex court further tasked the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) with examining the issue, hearing all concerned stakeholders, and submitting a comprehensive report within six weeks.
