Teak, Bhendi wood seized at Curtorim

MARGAO: Team of South Goa Division of Forest Department conducted a raid and seized 6.255 m³ of Teak wood and 3.22 m³ of Bhendi wood which was illegally logged and stacked at a private property in Curtorim, recently. 

Team conducted the search operations and managed to detect the stack of illegal timber in one private property at Damdolem, Curtorim. The same was then seized and brought to the Forest Timber Depot at Forest Colony Aquem, Margao.

Seized material includes 76 Teak wood logs admeasuring 6.25 cubic metres timber and two poles. Another stack comprised of 21 logs of Bhendi wood admeasuring 3.22 cubic meters. Market Value of said timber is around Rs 6 lakh. 

A case for illegal stacking/transport/felling has been booked in Range Office Mobile Squad, Margao, against unknown persons and further inquiry is in progress.
