Thanks to police,drugs-linked cop still on the loose

Even a fortnight after the arrest of the five policemen in connection with the police-drug mafia nexus case, the sixth cop Sanjay Parab has been successful in eluding arrest.
Inquiries have revealed that the police have made no serious effort to nab him.
On March 18, the Goa police arrested senior police inspector Ashish Shirodkar, head constable Hussein Shaikh and three police constables Saish Pokle, Sandip Parab and Ramchandra Kankonkar for their alleged links with drug mafia.
Sanjay Parab was suspended early this month along with the above policemen.
Despite the constable absconding, the police have made very little or rather “no effort” to nab him as they seem to be very busy with “other work”.
According to sources, Sanjay Parab could be the key to crack the police drug nexus as he served as link between drug dealers and top police officers.
“The Crime Branch officers themselves are involved in the drug nexus and they are deliberately making no effort to arrest him,” said sources in the department.
Even the Israeli drug dealer Dudu has named Parab as the key person, sources stated.
What is more shocking is despite the court naming Sanjay Parab an absconder the Crime Branch is yet to issue a look out notice for him.
“We have searched entire Goa, but did not find him. If you have any clues tell us,” was what the Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandrakant Salgaocar said when asked for his comment.
He said that the Crime Branch officials are busy with the weighing of the drugs which have been seized between 2001 and 2010.
“We are right now busy with the weighing with drugs,” he said.
Parab had filed an anticipatory bail application in the High Court but the court however directed him to go to Lower Court.
Incidentally, there are reports that he was seen in Canacona last week.
But when this was told to the Crime branch DySP he simply said, “Please tell me the exact address.”
