MARGAO: Gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees, along with foreign currency, were stolen from a flat in Varca. The Colva police have registered the offence under sections 331(4) and 305 BNS, though no arrests have been made so far.
The complainant, Antoneta Fernandes, a resident of Varca, Salcete, reported that between 11.45 pm on December 24, and 3.50 am on December 25, unknown individuals gained entry into her flat by breaking open the main entrance door. The burglars made off with a gold chain weighing around 26 grams, a 12-gram bangle, two 16-gram bangles, a 4-gram earring, a 10-gram wedding ring, two metal bracelets and approximately Rs 40,000 in cash, as well as Euro currency.

Upon receiving the complaint, the police rushed to the location and conducted a panchanama. A dog squad and a fingerprint expert were also called to the scene. Further investigation is underway.
