PORVORIM: In what could be a relief for residents of Aldona from frequent power disruptions, Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo said the Electricity department has already taken steps to improve power supply to Aldona constituency.
Addressing a press conference at Porvorim, Ticlo said the electricity department has decided to renovate the LT line within Carona and Corjuem and to replace the old 35 overhead transformers, the estimated cost of which is Rs 1.80 crore.
“Similarly, the 1.6 km underground cable will be laid from Aldona to Quitula and Corjuem feeder within next 3-4 months,” he said.
Ticlo further said there was power problem at Aldona due to leakages of joints of underground cables and power was supplied through overhead cables. However, one of the overhead cables became defective he said. “Further, due to heavy rains, trees uprooted at Aldona, Palyem and Pomburpa and several overhead conductors were damaged.” informed Ticlo.
Ticlo further informed that the electricity department has allotted one vehicle, one linesman and two assistant linesmen for Aldona sub-station to attend to power problems.
