PANJIM: The Congress on Monday said that time has come to save the country which was united by former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and protected by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The Congress commemorated the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel and the death anniversary of Indira Gandhi at the Congress House, Panjim. Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar and Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao, South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha, Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa along with other party functionaries paid floral tributes to the potraits of Sardar Patel and Indira Gandhi.

In his brief address, Patkar said that Sardar Patel tackled the most intricate and baffling problem of the States’ integration into the Union of India.
Yuri Alemao said that Indira Gandhi, regarded as iron lady sacrificed her life for the country. Sardinha said that Sardar Patel and Indira Gandhi immensely contributed in nation building.
