The Directorate of Transport on Tuesday observed Traffic Safety Week at the Margao KTC Bus stand with a message to the bus drivers on safe driving.
Transport Director Arun Desai, KTC Managing Director Venancio Furtado and RTO officials, besides bus drivers participated in the program. In his address, the Transport Director said the objective behind observing the traffic safety week is to convey a message to drive safely and to observe then dos and don’ts while driving. “The message to the drivers during this road safety week will help reduce the accident rate. Bus drivers need to take all precautions and drive safely. They should ensure they don’t speak on the cell phones while driving. All these measures will help reduce the accidents”, he added.
In his brief address, KTC Managing Director Venancio Furtado said the posters distributed to the drivers conveys message to the drivers to take precautions while driving.
He appealed to the bus drivers and conductors to spread the message on safe driving and traffic safety. ‘There’s a nee dot observe caution to avoid accidents”, he added.
Leader of the bus Association Manu Fernandes, in his address, underlined the need to observe caution and discipline by the drivers while driving.
Deputy Director of Transport Prakash Azavedo and RTO officials were present during the programe.
