Two arrested for mobile theft and cash from shop in Tivim

MAPUSA:  The Colvale police managed to crack a night burglary case within a period of one week, by arresting two accused and recovering stolen property worth Rs 64,000.

On August 4, a theft was reported at Madel, Tivim, where a shop owner Suryakant Kamat, a resident of Torxem, had lodged a complaint against unknown persons who broke into his mobile shop late at night and decamped with seven mobile phones and some cash.

A police team was formed under the supervision of SP North Shobit Sexena and Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi. The team was assisted by technical surveillance staff, who continuously collected intelligence to identify and trace the accused. 

Late Tuesday night, the team succeeded in nabbing the accused, Abhishek Kumar Singh (23), a native of Bihar and Kalyan Kamal Handique (26), a native of Assam. They were apprehended at Kundaim, Ponda, and all the stolen property consisting of various mobiles of different brands and the stolen cash was recovered. Further investigation is in progress.
