While reportedly overtaking the tempo, the motorcycle dashed the tempo and both riders fell off the bike. The motorcycle rider, Parikshit Bhalchandra Shetye (28) of Bhom-Mencurem in Bicholim taluka and pillion rider, Deepa Chandrakant Mahale (24) of Devulwada-Ugvem in Pernem taluka both died on the spot.
Pernem police conducted the inquest at the site and later sent the body to the Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim for an autopsy.
The tempo driver, Kalpesh Bhiva Bhagat of Nainginwada-Parcem has been detained in this connection.
