Vasco: Yet another deadline has been given for the completion of the Vaddem lake beautification project.
According to the Goa State Urban Development Authority (GSUDA) the work will now complete before November 20. The project was first announced in 2013 and the works had commenced in 2016.
Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho along with the GSUDA officials held yet another inspection of the work of the lake. Mauvin has asked GSUDA to finish the work by end of October to inaugurate the same in the first week of November.
When asked about the delay, Mauvin said, The delay can be attributed to the increase in scope and particulars of the work around the entire Vaddem lake. There are some more facilities that are to be created here at a minimum expense and will be completed along with the project.”
He further said that he had insisted on slow and steady but good work to be done on the Vaddem lake.
Mauvin has asked the Electricity Officials to shift the transformer on the corner of the lake to have an unobstructed view of the lake. “The emphasis is on completing the temporary steel ramps for Ganesh immersion which will be completed before the festival,” Mauvin said. The minister said that there would be permanent arrangement made for Ganesh immersion as soon as the rains are over.
Additional footpath has been added outside the border of the Vaddem lake. Three fountains would be installed inside the lake which would act as the purifiers for the water to avoid impure water and foul smell. Vaddem lake beautification may also come up soon.
