MARGAO: Irked of frequent power outages and ignorance of electricity sub-station staff the villagers of a ward in Velim gheraoed the Junior Engineer on duty.
The villagers of Velim have complained that no staff of electricity substation picks calls and registers complains on time.
The JE complains that there is no jumpers, no wire, no equipment with them. This is problem of every monsoon, said one of the residents.
The villagers complained that when there were similar complains the officials had changed the transformer and placed an old one. After the complaints the electricity department had installed a new transformer.
The people have demanded respite from the frequent power failures and also timely attendance of calls made by distressed consumers.
