Vijai slammed for proposing ‘pipedreams’

MARGAO: Margao Comunidade Attorney Celestino Noronha criticized the government and more particularly TCP Minister Vijai Sardessai for creating an impression of doing some development when in reality just proposing pipedreams that will never materialize.
Reacting to Vijai Sardessai’s announcement of a lake project at Tolleaband in Fatorda, he pointed out that since the Margao Comunidade is the owner of the land where the project is proposed, it has to be taken into confidence specially since the era of land acquisition is now nonexistent.
He pointed out that the area where the lake is proposed is a field and they were cultivated regularly and even presently there is a horticulture plantation existing thereon. Further, he pointed out how earlier the sluice (bandh) used to be closed to raise the water level in the fields so that they could be cultivated.
However, the fields are no longer cultivated because the water level has been drastically altered thanks to the many bore wells sunk at the adjacent Nehru Stadium where water is being gobbled at the cost of the farmers.
Celestino argued that without taking the Margao Comunidade into confidence, the government will not be able to do anything either at Tolleband or at Talsanzor which again belongs to the Margao Comunidade.
“Vijai Sardessai is talking about these projects just to create an impression that he wants to do development and when they do not materialize to take the grand stand that he wanted to bring about development but that was opposed,” said Celestino while asserting that the land owners have to be considered before announcing any project in public.
